- The National Broadcasting Commission, (NBC) Imo state has officially visited Toast 90.3FM, a new radio station that has commenced operations in Owerri, Imo State, South east, Nigeria.
- The NBC team which was led by the State Coordinator, Mr. Pat Nwafor was received into the premises by the General Manager of the station, Ms. Ify Onyegbule on Thursday November 25, 2021.
Mr Nwafor while on the supervisory visit to the facility, met with members of staff during a meeting, where he outlined the expectationsfrom the Management and staff of toast 90.3FM, he decried the rate of carelessness exhibited by some broadcasting personnel in the state, especially with regards to the use of “Not To Be Broadcast” (NTBB) content and material.
He made it known that the NBC office in the state had been listening to Toast 90.3FM since the signals came on air live and on the radio and he enjoined the staff to ensure strict compliance to the broadcasting codes, noting that a lot of presenters infringed on the rules of broadcasting which most of the time counts against the radio station involved.
Nwafor emphasized that while on Test Transmission, Toast 90.3FM should focus on introducing the station, its dial and what it stands for, to the audience and request feedback from the listeners to help improve on their set objectives. He mentioned that there will be challenges just like every new venture but called on staff to pay attention to what goes out on air when full transmission commences.
He also regretted the rise of untrained social media journalists and advised on the need for professionalism amongst broadcasters especially those in Toast 90.3FM, to ensure the credibility and reliability of the station.
The NBC team was taken on a tour of the facility and expressed satisfaction at the quality of the equipment in the Live & Production Studios and the Engineering/Transmitter room of Toast 90.3FM, noting that it is a station that seems poised to get down to work.
The GM, Toast FM, Ms. Ify Onyegbule thanked the NBC Team for the visit and promised that the station will do all within its responsibility to abide by the Broadcasting code as the team prepares to contribute her quota to nation building
