Nigerians have been encouraged and urged not to be afraid of the idea of a president of Igbo extraction come 2023.
This encouragement was made by David Umahi, Governor of Ebonyi State in Abakiliki at a reception put together for him in celebration of his declaration of his presidential bid.
Umahi made this call in Abakaliki, the state capital on Thursday, January 13, 2922, during a reception organized for him after declaring his presidential bid in Abuja earlier in the week.
Speaking at the gathering, the governor noted that Igbos are committed to the entity Nigeria as they also have investments across the country and as such would not be party to any idea of secession when in power.
“Some enemies of the South East say if we become president we will divide the country; how will we divide the country when we have investments everywhere?” the governor questioned.
According to him, Ebonyi is better in a fair and equitable Nigeria because the state has investments everywhere and one cannot set fire to his own house.
He further promised to run a government of continuity with respect to laudable projects initiated by the President Muhammadu administration if he becomes president.
