Fake Army General Gets Nabbed By EFCC Over N270 Million Fraud

A certain Bolarinwa Oluwasegun, posing as an Army General has been nabbed by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The suspect, who made pretentious representations to the complainant, Kodef Clearing Resources, had claimed he was shortlisted to become Chief of Army Staff (COAS) by President Muhammadu Buhari and needed a short grant to “press and process the appointment.”

According to his fake request, which was accompanied by a forged letter of appointment allegedly signed by the president, the sum of N270m was needed by him so as to pay a certain sum into the coffers of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Bolarinwa was arrested at his house in the Alagbado area of Lagos on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

Items found in his possession are Six pump action guns, three cartridge bullets, a swagger stick, and several forged documents.

EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, noted that Bolarinwa will be charged to court after full investigation.
