Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has adjourned further proceedings in the case against the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, till Wednesday.
The adjournment followed as Kanu, through is team of lawyers now led by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozekhome, complained of receiving fresh 15-count amended charge barely 24 hours before court hearing, and claimed being denied the necessary facility to defend the charges.
On his part, the Prosecution team, led by Mohammed Labaran from the Federal Ministry of Justice, said he was not opposed to the court granting a short adjournment to enable the defense lawyers to study the charge.
An amended 15-count treasonable felony and terrorism charge that differed from the initial 7-count charge earlier issued by the Federal Government had been presented to the court on Monday, although it was dated January 14th.
Earlier this morning, the Department of State Services, DSS, amidst tight security, had brought the IPOB leader to court.
Meanwhile, before adjourning the case till Wednesday, trial Justice Binta Nyako, ordered the DSS to allow Kanu to have a change of cloth and some physical exercise.
