Gov. Hope Honours 51 Traditional Rulers; Promise Justice For Slain Ezes

The colourful heritage and intrinsic part of the Igbo Culture was today sustained as recognition and honour was conferred on some traditional rulers of 51 autonomous communities in Imo State.

The event saw the convergence of indigenes from different communities who had come to felicitate and show support, clad in colourful native attires.

In a closed-door ceremony, Governor Hope Uzodinma while issuing staff of offices and certificates of recognition to the traditional heads , encouraged them to remain steadfast in treading the path of fairness in discharging their duties.

He also advised them to maintain the spirit of partnership with the 3R administration in keeping the peace at the grassroots and sustaining the tempo of good governance in the state generally.


Meanwhile, as part of activities lined up for the issuance of Staff of office to traditional rulers, Senator Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State, met and commiserated with families four deceased Traditional rulers whose lives were cut short during the unrest that hit the state.

According to the Governor “frankly speaking, it is a sad day for us as it reminds us of the ugly incidents in Njaba LGA and other communities where our Royal Fathers were killed. My heart bleeds as I mourn with you.”


He however assured that his administration would do all it can to bring the perpetrators to book, while maintaining peace in the state.
