President Muhammadu Buhari has conferred the Nigerian National Order of Merit for years 2020 and 2021 on three Nigerian scholars.

Presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, who revealed this in a statement said the President conferred the award on the scholars for distinguishing themselves in the field of medicine and science, while expressing belief that Nigeria’s collective future rests on active participation in science and technology.

The scholars include Dr. Oluyinka Olutoye for the Medicine field in 2020; the late Professor Charles Chidume, for the Science field in 2020 and Professor Godwin Ekhaguere, for the Science field in 2021.

The President noted that since the Nigerian National Merit Award was established 43 years ago, the addition of the three recipients would bring the total number of recipients to only 79.
