Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang , has tested positive for Covid-19.
This is coming days before the start of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Gabon.
Following this outcome, the 32-year-old forward now appears likely to miss out on his country’s opening game of the tournament against Comoros.
It is the latest bit of discouraging news for Aubameyang, who is Gabon’s captain, after being frozen out of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal squad for three disciplinary breaches.
He was recently spotted with fellow teamates at a party in Dubai.
AFCON 2022 kicks off on Sunday, January 9, 2021, with Gabon playing their opening group-stage fixture against Comoros the next day, on Monday, January 10, 2021.
They play Ghana four days later before concluding their pool-stage matches against Morocco on January 18.
