Coach of the Senior National team of Nigeria, Austin Eguavoen, says the Almeria forward, Sadiq Umar, doesn’t play to instruction after another poor performance in their game against Sudan at the ongoing African Cup Of Nations.
Sadiq was introduced as a second-half substitute for Taiwo Awoniyi with Nigeria leading 3-1 but didn’t do enough to justify his introduction.
“It was necessary for us to bring in fresh legs, but the instruction given to the player (sadiq) that comes in is a little bit different from what he goes in there and does, so makes it a bit difficult”, Eguavoen explains.
I think we have a bench rich enough to pull us through,” he said at his post-match press conference on Saturday, January 15, 2022.”
Following the win, the three-time AFCON winners now top Group D on six points after two games.
The Eagles will take on Guinea-Bissau in their last group game on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.
